Zhytomyr

Zhytomyr community is located in the northwestern part of Ukraine and is an important economic, trade, educational, medical and cultural center of the region. The area of ​​the community is 93.4 km², the population is 262700.

Zhytomyr is a city with a rich history and traditions of self-government, which was one of the first in Eastern Europe to receive the Magdeburg Law.

Zhytomyr is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Zhytomyr is one of the leaders in the implementation of energy efficiency projects in Ukraine, implementing various projects and initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy efficiency. Zhytomyr strives to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Since 2018, Zhytomyr has been a certified participant in the European Energy Label. The development of small and medium-sized businesses is one of the main priorities of the economic development of the community, which is a significant source of self-employment and the creation of new jobs, investment, replenishment of the community budget, as well as the economy’s resilience to external influences.

The community’s enterprises have a high level of competitiveness in the national and international markets, as evidenced by the growth in the production of food products, hosiery and footwear, wood processing, the production of windows, doors and other structural elements for construction, etc. Zhytomyr is an important educational, cultural and scientific center of the region, known for its educational institutions, theaters, museums, as well as traditions in the space industry. The city is the birthplace of the world-famous rocket designer Sergei Korolev. Zhytomyr is home to the unique S. P. Korolev Cosmonautics Museum, which attracts thousands of tourists and scientists. Zhytomyr has 9 cultural heritage monuments of national importance and 179 of local importance.
