Kharkiv is one of the biggest cities in Ukraine and the centre of Kharkiv region. Kharkiv today is an exceptionally beautiful city and a major industrial, scientific and cultural centre.

Being one of Ukraine’s major transportation hubs and possessing well-developed infrastructure, Kharkiv is a city in full bloom. It boasts many higher educational establishments and an impressive network of research institutions, a modern airport, and a growing tourist sector.

Kharkiv has always been attractive for international business and scientific circles as it has all the ingredients for success: high-tech industries, high-skilled personnel, proper intellectual potential, and well developed, diverse infrastructure. With a positive international image, the city has brought international cooperation to the forefront of its work.

Kharkiv is recognised as the capital of the Ukrainian student community with more than 60 higher educational institutions. As a university city, Kharkiv is very young, with an average age of 35 years old.

The city’s cultural offer takes place in its many theatres, cinemas, museums, showcasing its traditions. Kharkiv also hosts various music and theatre festivals and forums.

Gorky Central Park is located in a green area close to the historic centre of the city, and is a favourite place for recreation and entertainment for residents and visitors alike. The park has been designed so that six different themed zones – French, Extreme, Children’s, Medieval, Retro, Family and Entertainment – can cater to different groups based on their interests and age.

Kharkiv is one of the most unique cities in Ukraine where past and present interweave. Aristocratic mansions, Art Nouveau houses, Constructivist buildings of the 1920s, Stalin Neoclassicism post-war buildings – all masterpieces of architecture.
