Pesaro

Working with Eurocities

Through the Eurocities network, the city of Pesaro has built international partnerships, shared good practices and strengthened its access to European policy discussions and funding opportunities.

Participation in working groups, thematic forums and peer-learning activities has supported Pesaro’s work on priorities including sustainable urban development, culture, mobility, social inclusion and citizen participation. It has also strengthened the city’s capacity to develop European projects and build lasting cooperation with cities across Europe.

Eurocities gives Pesaro a stronger collective voice in European policymaking and helps ensure that the perspectives of medium-sized cities are heard. Through the network, Pesaro can engage directly with European institutions, contribute to consultations and joint policy positions, and share its local experiences and solutions. This has helped the city better understand European priorities while increasing its visibility and influence at European level.

Eurocities also helped Pesaro maximise the international impact of its year as Italian Capital of Culture 2024. Through the network, the city shared its cultural vision and projects with a wider European audience, learned from other cities and developed new partnerships that are helping to extend the legacy of Pesaro 2024. This builds on an earlier success. Pesaro’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Music in 2017 was supported by the city’s strategic partnerships and its participation in the Eurocities network.

Pesaro now hopes to build on these achievements as it pursues its ambition to become European Capital of Culture 2033, with Eurocities continuing to provide opportunities for international cooperation, exchange and visibility.

For Pesaro, the greatest value of Eurocities is being part of a community where cities actively share knowledge, experience and innovative solutions. The network combines practical opportunities for cooperation and peer learning with a stronger collective voice in Europe, allowing Pesaro to learn from others, bring new approaches into local policies and projects, and share its own experience.
