Social inclusion is at the heart of building fair, resilient and thriving cities. Yet rising living costs, growing inequalities, housing pressures and persistent poverty are making it harder for many people to access the opportunities and support they need. Cities are often the first responders to social challenges. They deliver essential services, support vulnerable groups and help turn social rights into practical reality for people in their daily lives. Eurocities works with city governments across Europe to tackle poverty and social exclusion, improve access to affordable housing, combat homelessness and promote equal opportunities for all. We advocate for a stronger role for cities in shaping and delivering European social policies, including the European Pillar of Social Rights, and call for accessible, place-based EU funding that helps cities meet growing social needs. Through policy development, advocacy, peer learning and collaborative projects, we help cities share solutions, strengthen social inclusion and build communities where everyone can participate and thrive.
