This report from the Big Buyers Working Together Community of Practice on Sustainability in ICT provides a practical roadmap for doing just that. Drawing on the experience of public buying organisations from Helsinki, Brussels, Stockholm, Burgas, the European Commission and Portugal, it explores how to set strategic priorities, establish minimum sustainability criteria, measure and verify progress, and build sustainability into procurement practice.
Developed through three workshops, peer exchange and individual coaching, the report takes public buyers through the process from defining the scope and priorities of a sustainable ICT procurement strategy to implementation and follow-up. It also shares practical examples from participating organisations and recommendations for public buyers, policymakers and organisations looking to replicate the approach.
