Happy holidays from Eurocities

Usually at this time of the year, the central “Schlossplatz” in Stuttgart, Germany, is a crowded part of the city’s famous Christmas market, with an ice rink for skating. Under the covid limitations, it is turned into a square of light with illuminated statues.

Another traditional Christmas initiative of the city went online: the Christmas tree of children’s wishes, this year in a digital format, collected about 1,500 wishes from kids from disadvantaged families, channelled through social institutions of the city. The wishes – among others toys, winter clothing, and vouchers for the Stuttgart zoo – were picked up and fulfilled by donators: private persons and businesses. A logistics company organised the delivery.
