Project Coordinator


Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a project coordinator to work in the field of sustainable urban mobility, with a specific focus on digitalisation, connectivity, and automation.

The candidate would start beginning of September.

As project coordinator, you will be responsible for Eurocities activities under the EU-funded SHOW and FAME projects. SHOW is a large-scale demonstration project testing fleet of automated vehicles in urban areas, FAME is a coordination and support action that manages the European portal on connected and automated driving and organises the EUCAD High-Level Conference. In addition, you will be exploring funding opportunities related to urban ITS, automation, multimodal traffic management, Mobility-as-a-Service, urban mobility data and new mobility services, and contribute to our advocacy and working groups in these domains.

You will work as part of the mobility team.  In this role, you will:

  • Manage Eurocities’ activities and responsibilities in the framework of the H2020 SHOW and the Horizon Europe FAME project, with a specific focus on knowledge-sharing, transferability and replication, and local regulation
  • Work in tandem with the senior project coordinator
  • Liaise with the lead partner and other partners
  • Manage the project budget within Eurocities’ responsibility
  • Prepare required deliverables, technical reports, and cost statements
  • Ensure strong links with our policy work and relevant EU platforms and initiatives
  • Contribute to the Eurocities Mobility Forum activities and working groups.
  • Participate in other relevant activities of Eurocities.
  • Disseminate information to members on the project outcomes in cooperation with the communications team.
  • Stimulate and support project development in the domain of sustainable urban mobility in cooperation with the senior project coordinator and the project & knowledge sharing director


You are an experienced professional who is full of initiative, self-driven, curious, creative, flexible and results-oriented.

The skills and experience to do this job successfully include:

  • a successful track record of five years’ work experience
  • strong experience in EU-funded project management
  • a background in transport and mobility (academic and/or through professional experience)
  • experience in coordinating and working with multiple stakeholders at EU and local level
  • in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on sustainable urban mobility EU; dedicated expertise on digitalisation, connectivity and automation is an asset
  • experience in knowledge-transfer and event organisation
  • experience translating project work into policy recommendations
  • fluent in English, and able to write clear and concise reports in English
  • good networking abilities and interpersonal skills for an international environment
  • excellent relationship management, negotiating, coordination, and communications skills


  • experience in working with local and city governments or public sector partners on sustainable urban mobility, with a specific focus on urban ITS, automation, multimodal traffic management, Mobility-as-a-Service, urban mobility data and new mobility services
  • other languages

  • experience in writing policy recommendations and publications

We offer

  • a fixed-term contract until January 2024, starting in September 2022
  • a full-time contract, either as:
    • an employee, under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address). Or
    • a freelancer based in any EU country and able to prove freelancer status as a natural person.
  • 3.200 € – 3.600 € monthly gross salary, according to profile and experience
