Klaipeda

Klaipeda is the Northernmost ice-free port in the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, the third largest city and the only port in Lithuania. This beautiful city by the sea, founded in 1252 by the Livonian Order, is the oldest city in Lithuania and one of the oldest in the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea.

In Klaipeda, you can see the Old Town with its unique architectural style, try the delicious food, stroll through the modern part of the city with its artistic attractions, or enjoy events.

The city of Klaipeda is one of the main engines of Lithuania’s economy, an industrial and services centre with a competitive, development-geared, ice-free port and a strong free economic zone. As a transport hub, the city successfully attracts foreign investments in logistics and the manufacturing sector.

There’s plenty of room for potential investment projects, business growth, and opportunities. Everyone can benefit from the EU’s most Northerly ice-free port, linking to Scandinavia, the CEE and China all-year-round. Klaipeda offers people with talent everything they desire: a slower pace of life to enjoy their favourite past times, a work-life balance, sea views, and a stress-free environment.

Klaipeda city implements the Klaipeda2030 economic development strategy. It is a long-term solution which will map the economic development of the city and serve as a framework for the development of the whole Klaipeda region. The aim of Klaipeda 2030 is to develop a world-class city, built on the blue economy and fast solutions: the best place to live, work, rest and to invest in the Baltic region.

Klaipeda has a rich and varied cultural life. As well as contemporary art, theatre and music, the city’s also active in the sphere of national folk culture. The biggest summer event in Lithuania – Klaipeda Sea Festival – organised since 1934, is attended by half a million guests, from Lithuania and abroad.

Klaipeda is also the host for international events like the The Tall Ship Races, the International Castle Jazz Festival and the UIM F2 World Championship.

Klaipeda is a beautiful, hospitable city that is open to the world. This is a city on the move.
