SUMI supports the implementation of sustainable urban mobility indicators and develops benchmarking tools to improve the ability of cities to measure the impact of their new mobility policies and practices.
Sustainable urban mobility indicators are a useful tool for cities and urban areas to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their mobility system and to focus on areas for improvement. The project will help cities use an online tool evaluate their mobility system based on a set of standardised, practical, and reliable indicators. The tool will also measure improvements coming from new mobility practices or policies.
The results of these evaluations will be comparable and will have a stronger impact in convincing policy makers at local, national and European level about which mobility practices are most effective in a given context.
The project will support at least 53 European urban areas to use the indicators used in the online tool, it will also develop a benchmarking functionality and integrate it into the online tool, and it will collect learnings to improve the indicators based on the concrete experience of cities.
