Localising and raising awareness about SDGs – Monday 5 October 14:30 – 16:00
The key driver towards achieving the 2030 Agenda, and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, isn’t what commitments are taken at national or global level, but rather what actions are put in place at local level. This session will look at this role, with a particular emphasis on exchanges of experiences based on the promotion of the SDGs through education for sustainable development.

Culture beyond borders – Monday 12 October 16:30 – 18:00
How can culture be a tool to deconstruct the confines on our thoughts of borders, and rather help us reach across and reach out to others, across borders? In this online workshop, led by the city of Chemnitz, will deep dive into the strategic issues at stake and the possible cultural cooperation models by looking at 7 European cooperation-regions.
COVID-19 and Future Cohesion Policy: the role of local authorities – Tuesday 13 October 9:30 – 11:00
Cities have been in the front lines dealing with the multiple impacts on people from the COVID-19 pandemic. Public services have come under a new spotlight and had to adapt, with emergency measures stretching resources. This session will look at the use of European funds, the role of metropolitan areas and different management models in the response and future plans for a green recovery.
Green Deal? Achieve it through procurement! – Wednesday 14 October 11:30 – 13:00
As large public buyers, city authorities have the capability of impacting markets and shaping their procurement in a way to reach green (and other ) policy goals. This session will look at how cities can make strategic use of their public procurement and how the EU Urban Agenda Partnership on Innovative and Responsible Public Procurement can support these efforts.
Governing local heritage together – Thursday 15 October 9:30 – 11:00
How do we ensure cultural heritage activities benefit local communities? In this workshop, we will explore how cities and regions foster participatory governance and civic engagement in cultural heritage, based on lessons learned from the Cultural Heritage in Action project.

Cities have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Come along to learn about some of the unique initiatives launched by cities and city networks during the crisis months, how EU-funded programmes could support long-term local responses and innovation, and delve into what lessons have already been learned.

Governance models for climate neutrality – Tuesday 20 October 11:30 – 13:00
Implementing the European Green Deal requires buy-in from all levels of government. Getting it right could have a huge impact not only in tackling the climate emergency, but also in restarting the economy and driving recovery efforts. This session will share leading examples from cities of what they are doing around ‘local climate pacts’ and how these local level ideas can help inform European level thinking.

The role of the SDGs in the crisis recovery – Wednesday 21 October 11:30 – 13:00
There has been much talk among policy experts about the possibility of green recovery, following the COIVD-19 pandemic, and the Sustainable Development Goals create a ready-to-use framework to guide this. Many cities and regions area already implementing these actions, and this event will focus on how more cities can do this in the recovery, and call on the EU not to delay the SDG implementation.

The Green City Accord is a European Commission initiative to mobilise European mayors committed to safeguarding the natural environment. The Accord aims to support cities in their efforts to achieve cleaner and healthier environments, thereby improving the quality of life of city dwellers.
