Within the context of the EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission, NEUTRALPATH will support Zaragoza (Spain) and Dresden (Germany), with advanced experiences in sustainable urban transformation, in becoming pioneers at the EU level in climate neutrality and zero pollution by 2030.
Under NEUTRALPATH, Zaragoza and Dresden will work closely with three cities, Istanbul (Turkey), Ghent (Belgium) and Vantaa (Finland), to design their own Positive and Clean Energy Districts and Climate-Neutral Labs, contributing to the achievement of their decarbonization objectives.
Establishing clustering and knowledge-exchange actions at the local and EU levels is at the core of NEUTRALPATH’s efforts to support cities to reach climate neutrality by 2030. To this end, at the local level, the project will support the improvement and creation of innovative governance practices. To strengthen the Positive and Clean Energy Districts’ impact, specific actions will be undertaken to align the efforts of the public authorities and stakeholders with extensive citizen participation.
At the EU level, NEUTRALPATH aims to be fully integrated into the framework of the Cities Mission and will deliver a solid contribution to meet the EU climate targets by establishing a collaboration agreement with the Cities Mission Platform focused on exchanging knowledge and experiences, as well as with the main EU initiatives as H2020 Smart Cities and Communities Lighthouse projects and Smart Cities Marketplace or Covenant of Mayors.
