Eurocities along with a growing list of over 120 organisations has joined the Renovate Europe Campaign, calling for the EU Recovery Plan to include a Renovation Fund for All Europeans.

This fund would ensure that energy renovation of the EU building stock plays a central role in getting the EU back on its feet, while keeping climate ambitions on track.

The coalition or organisations wants a threefold increase in the annual renovation rate of buildings within the EU – up to 3% of buildings per year.

To deliver on the objectives of the Euroepan Green Deal, this would involve introducing minimum energy performance standards for existing buildings that undergo energy renovation, which would be progressively tightened over time in line with the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality objective.
