Project Coordinator – Living-in EU Community

Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a project coordinator to work in the field of digital to work on our new project, Go Li.EU.

The candidate would start in mid-September.

Responsibilities

As project coordinator, you will be responsible for leading on the implementation of the Governance of the Living-in.EU Community (Go Li.EU) project, funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme.

The living-in.EU community is a collaborative platform for cities and communities to accelerate their digital transformation. The aim of Living-in.EU is to work together to scale up the use of data technology to tackle a range of interconnected challenges, including urban mobility, energy efficiency, and digital public services, while ensuring environmental sustainability in line with the European Green Deal. The Go Li.EU project will support and accelerate the European way of digital transformation by coordinating and further enhancing strong multi-level governance cooperation in the EU to develop, (re-)use and share trustworthy solutions, technology and standards.

To make this possible Go Li.EU will ensure effective governance and growth of the Living-in.EU community, to include all ecosystem players, ensuring cooperation among them and with other EU initiatives.

To achieve that, Go Li.EU sets the following objectives:

  • Manage the Living-in.EU community including supporting all its subgroups’ activities towards the achievements of the commitments while promoting the widest dissemination of knowledge and results;
  • Enlarge the community, specifically the number of signatories and supporters and create the conditions to keep them actively involved. This would also include building close collaboration with existing and upcoming EU initiatives (e.g. 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission/NetZeroCities project, Covenant of Mayors, Intelligent Cities Challenge, etc.);
  • Ensure the increased uptake and upscale of cross-domain interoperable digital solutions developing further the technical and capacity-building conditions;
  • Organise the supply side around a joint vision compatible with Living-in.EU principles for the provision of Local Digital Twins solutions in Europe;
  • Measure the results of Go Li.EU and the impact of the living-in.EU initiative at local, regional, national and European level.

You will work as part of the digital transformation team at the Eurocities Brussels office. In this role, you will:

  • lead on the Go Li.EU project:
  • General management of the project including budget management and monitoring
  • Work planning and monitoring for the full partner consortium
  • Liaising with the European Commission and project partners
  • Delivering project tasks due by Eurocities
  • Overseeing and preparation of technical reports and cost statements
  • Work in partnership with the rest of the consortium
  • Deliver project activities such as: support and animate the subgroups’ activities, increase the membership, establish synergies with other initiatives and projects, manage the community of signatories and supporters, knowledge-sharing events, awareness-raising and dissemination of results, and further development of the Living-in.EU platform (managing the Living-in.EU initiative secretariat)
  • Organise high-level events and steering board meetings
  • draft technical and financial reports

In addition, you will be:

  • Ensuring coordination with the Eurocities Digital Forum policy work and working groups/task force activities, in view of exploiting and upscale their results
  • Cooperating with the other Eurocities Forums in cross-cutting areas such as environment and energy, mobility and transport, economic development/procurement, governance, accessibility and inclusion and more
  • Establishing concrete cooperation activities with the relevant projects and initiatives in which Eurocities is involved such as NetZeroCities, Covenant of Mayors, Big Buyers initiative, CitiMeasure, UserCentricities to exploit and upscale their results and grow the Living-in.EU community

Profile

You are an experienced professional who is full of initiative, self-driven, curious, creative, flexible and results-oriented.

The skills and experience to do this job successfully include:

  • a successful track record of five years’ relevant work experience
  • experience in EU-funded project management, ideally in a lead partner position
  • in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of digital policies at EU level in the scope of the project
  • experience in coordinating and working with multiple stakeholders at EU and local level
  • experience in knowledge-transfer
  • Experience in event organisation
  • fluent in English, and able to write clear and concise reports in English
  • good networking abilities and interpersonal skills for an international environment
  • excellent relationship management, negotiating, coordination, and communications skills

Assets:

  • experience in working with regional, local and city governments or public sector partners
  • other languages
  • experience translating project work into policy recommendations
  • experience writing project proposals
  • experience in policy work
  • experience in writing policy recommendations and publications

We offer

  • an open-ended contract, linked to the project (4 years)
  • a full-time employment contract, under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract
  • €3,200-€3,800 monthly gross salary, according to profile and experience
