New knowledge on sustainable urbanisation from our EU-China projects

28 February 2019

It has been a very busy last quarter of 2018 for both our EU-China projects resulting in many new reports that add to the knowledge around sustainable urbanisation and social integrative cities, both in Europe and China.

In URBAN-EU-CHINA (http://www.urban-eu-china.eu/en/), EUROCITIES with Chinese partner CCUD, have prepared the 2nd edition of the “Cooperation plans and guidelines”. The report serves as a tool that can help European and Chinese cities create solid and effective city-to-city partnerships.

In TRANS-URBAN-EU-CHINA (http://transurbaneuchina.eu/), five new reports that cover the whole range of the project’s themes on socially integrative cities were released: (i) community building and place-making in neighbourhoods, (ii) bridging the gap between planning and implementation in eco and smart cities, (iii) land use planning and management, (iv) integrated transitions pathways towards sustainable cities and (v) establishment of Urban Living Labs in four Chinese cities. Following these first results, the project is asking cities to take the opportunity and register themselves as “Reference Cities”, cities that will contribute good examples and their work will be promoted through the project to Europe and China. Please contact us for more details on that!

In these two projects, we work to allow for European cities to benefit from the partnership with China, both in terms of knowledge exchange and the creation of new cooperation and development activities between the local quadruple helix ecosystems in Europe and China. All six reports include good practice examples from Europe and China and can be downloaded from our website.
