More than 60 cities across Europe have now shown that they are willing to go the extra mile for the environment by signing the Green City Accord.
This European Commission initiative sees cities commit to stepping up their efforts to protect the environment in five key focus areas by 2030: air, water, nature and biodiversity, circular economy and waste, and noise. In this way, cities will also be supporting the European Green Deal and the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals.
To celebrate this commitment and to welcome new signatories, join us for an online high-level ceremony for Green City Accord signatories on 22 September, from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST.
Mayors, local leaders and stakeholders will join the European Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevičius in a unique opportunity for mayors to directly discuss the Green City Accord and their environmental priorities with the European Commission.
We invite you to share your enthusiasm for this landmark event by using the hashtag #GreenCityAccord on social media.
More information about the Accord can be found on its website.
