Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a policy and project officer to work in the field of social inclusion.

The candidate would start in July 2024.

Responsibilities

As policy and project officer, you will be supporting Eurocities activities related to the EaSI operating grant, by contributing to policy and project work on social inclusion and employment and advocate cities needs towards the EU institutions.  In this role, you will:

  • Support the work of specialised working groups, task forces and other work streams related to the forum (potential topics include Roma, people with disabilities, wellbeing and ageing, children and youth, social services)
  • Regular communication with our members, the European Commission and other external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the organisation of mutual learning events
  • Contribute to the preparation of policy papers, policy recommendations and thematic reports
  • Contribute to the organisation and content of the Social Affairs Forum in 2025
  • Contribute to the implementation of the EaSI operational grant, including reporting and policy updates

Profile

You are an experienced professional who is full of initiative, self-driven, curious, creative, flexible and results-oriented.

You are flexible and able to work autonomously, while maintaining a team-oriented attitude.

The skills and experience to do this job successfully include*:

  • up to 3 years of relevant work experience in policy and or project implementation
  • a master’s degree or equivalent
  • knowledge of and experience in the field of social inclusion of vulnerable groups, employment/skills, social innovation
  • good understanding of the EU institutional framework
  • good analytical and organisational skills
  • very good organisational and coordination skills
  • good oral and written communications skills in English
  • good interpersonal skills for an international environment

Assets:

  • experience in working in EU project or policy
  • experience in events management
  • other languages

We offer

  • a full-time position as an employee under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address)
  • a contract starting in July 2024 and finishing on 31 December 2025
  • 2,600 € – 3,000 € monthly gross salary, according to profile and experience
  • flexible working hours
  • part-time teleworking
