EU project finance coordinator

Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a finance coordinator to work on the financial management of our EU-funded projects.

The candidate would start as soon as possible, ideally in mid-May 2024.

Responsibilities

As finance coordinator, you will be responsible for the financial management of Eurocities’ portfolio of EU-funded grants (mainly Horizon Europe and AMIF) and service contracts, supporting their life cycle from the application phase to the final reporting.

You will work under the supervision of the Head of Projects Finance at the Eurocities Brussels office.

In this role, you will:

  • Cooperate with the projects team on the financial implementation of Eurocities EU-funded projects.
  • Lead on the financial implementation of projects where Eurocities is a coordinator, guiding project partners and liaising with the donor on financial aspects.
  • Manage ongoing projects’ budgets, including follow‐up of staff and other direct costs (outgoing and incoming invoices, reimbursement claims, procurement procedures).
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
  • Review projects administrative and financial documentation (Consortium and Partnership Agreements, Grant Agreements/Amendments, partners financial documentation).
  • Contribute to the financial and administrative preparations of project proposals and tenders, including budget drafting.
  • Train new staff members in financial management of EU grants.
  • Improve internal financial processes and tools.

Profile

You are an experienced finance professional with a proven track record, showcasing initiative, self-drive and a results-oriented approach.

The skills and experience to do this job successfully include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economic sciences or management
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial management of EU-funded grants
  • Excellent knowledge of European funding programmes and rules
  • Excellent financial analysis skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • C1 level in English, oral and written
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within cross-cutting teams
  • Good interpersonal skills for an international environment
  • A problem-solving attitude, attention to detail, initiative.

Assets:

  • Knowledge in administration and bookkeeping
  • Proficiency in French; other languages an advantage

  • Agile in a changing environment with the ability to juggle competing deadlines.

We offer

  • A full-time position as an employee under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address)
  • An open ended contract, starting as soon as possible
  • 3,200 € – 3,600 € monthly gross salary, according to profile and experience
  • Flexible working hours
  • Part-time teleworking
