About the team
The Eurocities Project Development team works across the organisation, fostering collaboration and innovation in a variety of areas. The team specialises in developing project proposals on critical topics such as climate neutrality, social inclusion, digital transformation, urban mobility, culture, urban governance and sustainable development. By leveraging European funding programs, building partnerships with foundations and philanthropic organisations, and overseeing project lifecycles, the team supports the secretariat in creating impactful initiatives that align with EU priorities and deliver tangible benefits to member cities.
Responsibilities
You will work as part of the Project Development team at the Eurocities Brussels office. In this role, you will:
- Conduct research on upcoming and open funding opportunities, helping cities unlock their potential through relevant EU calls for proposals.
- Explore and analyse EU funding programs to identify strategic opportunities for impactful projects.
- Contribute to drafting reports and creating presentations.
- Bring fresh ideas and insights to team discussions and brainstorming sessions.
- Support the team in organising meetings, workshops, and events that foster collaboration and innovation.

Profile
You are full of initiative, self-driven, curious, creative, flexible, and results oriented. You are eager to take ownership of tasks and contribute meaningfully to your team’s goals.
The skills and experience to do this job successfully include*:
- A university degree, preferably linked to European studies, public administration, political science, urban development and international relations or another relevant field.
- Proficiency in English (additional languages are an asset).
- Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills, plus familiarity with MS Office is highly beneficial.
- A proactive team player with a broad knowledge or/and interest in EU funding, project development and collaboration in the EU context.
Assets:
- Previous experience in project development, working with local and city governments.
- Previous experience in working with foundations and philanthropic organisations.
- Familiarity with EU institutions, policies, and processes.
- Any additional skills relevant to the position.

We offer
- A traineeship contract, starting in August 2025 ending on 31 December 2025
- a full-time position that will be carried out at Eurocities office in Brussels
- a remuneration of approximately €1.200,00 per month.
Important: Eurocities will provide you with a Belgian trainee contract (CIP “convention d’immersion professionnelle”). Due to the CIP requirements and conditions, the selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address).
