Freelance Project Developer- Eurocities Academy

Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a Project Developer to set up our new Eurocities Academy.

The candidate would ideally start at the end of May/early June 2023.

About the project

Eurocities is creating a new ‘Eurocities Academy’. The aim is to provide training opportunities for city administrators and policymakers in crucial and cross-cutting policy areas essential to ensure urban leadership in tackling urban challenges and driving the green, digital and fair transition.

The Academy will build upon Eurocities’ strong expertise in capacity building for cities, taking it to the next level.

Responsibilities

As Project Developer, you will identify training gaps and needs, benchmarking, options assessment, and business plan development for the new Eurocities Academy.

You will work closely with the Policy Director and with all Eurocities colleagues to develop the business plan to implement in 2024.  In this role, you will:

  • Identify training gaps and needs for city administrators and policy makers
  • Prepare a benchmark of existing training on urban challenges and city leadership
  • Develop an options paper for the conceptualisation of the Eurocities Academy
  • Contribute to the marketing and organisation of the 2023 pilot training
  • Contribute to developing strategic partnerships with academic institutions

Profile

You are an experienced professional with an entrepreneurial mindset, with experience in setting up new initiatives, self-driven, creative, flexible and results-oriented.

The skills and experience to do this job successfully include*:

  • at least 5 years of professional experience working on urban policies
  • at least 5 years of relevant experience working in close contact with city administrations
  • experience in needs analysis, benchmarking and budgeting
  • experience in organising training for public administration
  • previous experience with academics and research organisations
  • strong communication skills, experience identifying and pitching business plans to potential partners
  • problem-solving approach
  • very strong organisation and planning skills
  • experience working autonomously and as part of a team
  • organised & accurate, able to meet deadlines
  • excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • full proficiency in English

Assets:

  • understanding pressing urban challenges
  • experience in driving European policies at local level
  • other languages an asset

We offer

  • a full-time position as a freelancer, based in any EU country and able to prove freelancer status as a natural person.
  • A 6 months contract
  • 30€ net hourly rate
  • flexible working hours
