The overall objective of the SHARE project is to build a European resettlement network of cities, municipalities and regions. The SHARE network is an integral part of the wider EU Resettlement Network, and facilitates the inclusion of local and regional actors in the network as new resettlement stakeholders.
The SHARE project offered opportunities for mutual learning, information exchange and dialogue in this area of work.
EUROCITIES’ contribution to this project built on previous work led by the Working Group Migration & Integration, including adapting the peer review process on the implementation of the EUROCITIES Integrating Cities Charter for use in refugee resettlement. Via this process, SHARE provided opportunities to extend EUROCITIES’ work in facilitating cities’ commitments to equal opportunities and inclusion of migrant populations in their territories.
The SHARE project was led by International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), in partnership with UNHCR, the city of Sheffield (UK), EUROCITIES, Horton Housing Association (UK) and the NGOs ACCEM, France Terre d’Asile, ProAsyl Germany, British Refugee Council, Refugee Action (UK), Dutch Refugee Council, Red Cross Austria, the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) and the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE). Associate partners include the cities of Munich, Aachen and Paris.
The objectives of the SHARE project will be further pursued until August 2015, thanks to the SHARE II project.
