EUROCITIES on VAT for public services

In our latest statement on VAT refund for public services, we argue that the EU's current VAT rules applying to the public sector work well. Cities in action: Gijon's Citizen Card

Gijon's Citizen Card transforms the way people access the city's services and facilities. With one card, citizens can visit the library, travel by public transport, hire a bike and use a municipal swimming pool. The card also helps residents to interact more easily with their local council through a network of 'citizen ATMs' and a 'city council at home' service. Around 80% of the city's population now carries a card, and the usage data allows the city to develop policies that better respond to its citizens' needs.
