Cities’ perspective on an EU urban agenda

Politicians from our executive committee met in early June to share their visions for an EU urban agenda. They make concrete recommendations on how cities could be better involved in EU policy making and how policies that impact on urban areas could be better coordinated. We strongly believe that our cities are key to delivering the Europe 2020 objectives of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. We outline our proposals for an EU urban agenda in our latest policy paper.

CASCADE project ends, results remain!

Our CASCADE project on local energy leadership has come to an end, following three years of knowledge and experience sharing across Europe. Its intensive peer-to-peer learning and networking programme included peer reviews, mentoring visits, work shadowing, study visits and peer advice visits. The project has helped develop new collaboration between cities and has enabled cities to improve their local energy strategies and projects.

Birmingham's Entrepreneurs for the Future project features in our latest 'cities in action' case study. This specialised startup incubator focuses on new businesses in growth sectors such as IT, digital and cleantech. It provides tailored support to help new businesses get off the ground, and offers legal, tax, IP, marketing and communications advice. Startups also benefit from being part of a community, and organise regular events to encourage networking and creativity. The project is helping Birmingham retain talent in the local area.
