We invite you to answer the public consultation which is open until 4 March 2019.
The Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) is the most comprehensive instrument of EU water policy and its main objective is to protect and enhance EU water resources to achieve good status.
The Floods Directive (2007/60/EC), which has been the catalyst for introducing a risk management approach to water floods across the EU.
Those two directives are being evaluated by the European Commission, and stakeholders are invited to provide feedback. This is is an opportunity to bring to the attention of the Commission the weaknesses of the directives and suggestions to make it more effective.
The public consultation also covers the two other Directives directly linked to the Water framework directive (Directive 2006/118/EC on Groundwater and 2008/105/EC on Quality Standards).
The consultation consists in two sections: a general section intended for the public on their understanding and relation with water; and a more technical section aimed at national authorities, experts and private entities in charge of implementation on the specificities of the Directives. You can choose to answer the first section only or the two sections.
