On 4-6 April, members of the knowledge society forum gathered in Lyon for three days of inspiring meetings, workshops, presentations, and discussions.
The focus was on co-creation and co-design practices developed by cities. Participants exchanged views on their respective innovative collaborative and participatory approaches.
The first day was dedicated to the internal strategy of EUROCITIES, and to a presentation of TUBÀ, the host city’s unique laboratory which experiments with new urban practices and services.
On the second day, participants visited the studio Pôle PIXEL, where they were introduced to the work of local entrepreneurs active in cultural and creative industries. In the afternoon, the working group on data discussed data protection, security, and data economy, and heard a presentation by Oulu, Eindhoven, and Lyon on the EU digital transition partnership. The day ended with a session on cocreating smart cities and a discussion on how cities develop co-creation practices through EU-funded projects.
On the final day, a group of members discussed their experiences related to e-government services and access to technologies, while others worked on the draft of a guidebook for politicians on the benefits of the implementation of standards and interoperability in cities. Following a study visit to Lyon’s Confluence urban development project, the meeting ended with a visit to SIdO, the leading international showroom where over 250 exhibitors and 100 startups displayed their Internet of Things projects.
