The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2017 will take place from 19 - 25 June on the theme of “Clean Energy for all Europeans”. EUROCITIES will take part in the event through its different projects: join our sessions and come to visit our stands! Registration is open.

OPENING SESSION OF THE POLICY CONFERENCE

20 June from 10:00 to 11:00 - Charlemagne building, De Gasperi room

Daniël Termont, mayor of Ghent, President of EUROCITIES and member of the European Covenant of Mayors Board, will intervene on behalf of the Covenant of Mayors.

ACCELERATING THE CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION — FINANCING ENERGY EFFICIENCY AT THE LOCAL LEVEL

21 June from 11:00 to 12:30 - Résidence Palace

The purpose of this event is to present and discuss between European policy makers, local authorities and key actors a set of policy recommendations on how to facilitate access to energy efficiency investments for local authorities.

Inge Van De Klundert, Policy advisor sustainability of the city of Utrecht and Chair of EUROCITIES Working Group on Air quality, climate change and energy efficiency, will be among the speakers who will present a policy recommendation on the European initiative ‘Smart finance for smart buildings’.

SHARING SMART SOLUTIONS AND EXPERIENCES — SCALE-UP AND REPLICATION IN EUROPEAN CITIES

21 June from 14:00 to 15:30 - Charlemagne building, Mansholt room

The session is organised by the Smart Cities Information System (SCIS) and features speakers from the SCIS, the Covenant of Mayors, the City of Prague and EU smart cities projects REMOURBAN and City-zen. Claire Baffert, project coordinator at EUROCITIES will present how the twinning programme developed under the Covenant of Mayors fosters the replication of climate and energy solutions.

LOCAL ENERGY COMMUNITIES AND COVENANT OF MAYORS CITIES

21 June from 16:00 to 17:30 - Charlemagne building, Mansholt room

The session organised by DG ENER and the Covenant of Mayors will showcase concrete examples of successful Local Energy Communities, developed by or under the auspices of signatory municipalities of the Covenant of Mayors, followed by a matchmaking cocktail.

SMARTER IS CLEANER — LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE SCC1 SMART CITY PROJECTS ON GRIDS, STORAGE AND PROSUMER MODELS

Piero Pelizzaro, Project manager of the city of Milan, which is a Lighthouse city in the Sharing Cities programme, will take part to the session and discuss on the topic “Smart city lab and civic crowd funding”.

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and CIVITAS STAND

The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK campaign (16-22 September 2017) provides the perfect opportunity to present sustainable mobility alternatives to local residents and to explain the challenges that towns and cities are facing in order to induce behavioural change and make progress towards creating a more sustainable transport strategy for Europe. 

CIVITAS is a network of cities working together for cleaner and better transport in Europe and beyond. Since it was launched by the European Commission in 2002, the CIVITAS Initiative has tested and implemented over 800 measures and urban transport solutions as part of demonstration projects in more than 80 Living Lab cities Europe-wide.

H2020 LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT STAND - SHOWCASING THEIR SMART CITY SOLUTIONS 

21 June from 14:00 to 17:30

The nine H2020 lighthouse projects will team up for a common stand in the networking village. This stand will be equipped with a touchscreen showcasing the different smart city solutions developed within their programmes. There will also be an agenda for projects to take turns having people present on the stand and interact with visitors. 

 

GREEN DIGITAL CHARTER STAND – DIGITAL SOLUTIONS TO SAVE ENERGY IN SMART CITIES

22 June from 09:00 to 12:30

Already today, the ICT sector represents 4% of Europe’s carbon footprint. For this 2017 edition of EUSEW, the Green Digital Charter will raise awareness on the energy consumed by the digital devices most commonly used. Our interactive board will introduce projects and initiatives implemented by Green Digital Charter signatory cities to build sustainable and energy-efficient cities.
