The GCoM has opened a public consultation period ending on June 15 2018, open to all Covenant cities and any other party to provide feedback on the recommended Common Reporting Framework.
Over the last 10 years, the Covenant of Mayors has become a strong community of local authorities committed to local action. Since 2008, this Europe-born initiative has evolved to meet the changing challenges and has progressively grown into a worldwide city movement of more than 9,000 municipalities across 6 continents and over 120 countries.
In order to streamline measurement and reporting procedures, especially for cities that were members of the Compact of Mayors and Covenant of Mayors, a set of recommendations towards a common global reporting framework for city emissions inventories, targets, risk and vulnerability assessments, and climate action plans have been developed. They include (i) greenhouse gas emissions inventory; (ii) target setting; (iii) risk and vulnerability assessment; and (iv) climate action and energy access planning.
Those recommendations are available here: https://bit.ly/2M0LC87
You are invited to provide feedback on those recommendations before 15 June through the online survey: https://bit.ly/2svo0QQ
Please note that we are also organising a webinar on 8 June, 10:30-12:30 CET. This webinar is proposed by the Covenant office to introduce you to the proposed Global Covenant framework and present you the survey questions. A Q&A session will be proposed for participants to raise any questions they may have. Please register to receive the follow-up email with a link to attend the webinar: https://bit.ly/2kGmKpF
This consultation is open to any current and future Covenant of Mayors cities and any other party.
