CeBIT 2017, the world’s largest digital trade fair, held on 20-24 March in Hannover, was entirely dedicated to the digitalisation of the economy.
At a stand under the EUROPA banner, the Green Digital Charter initiative and the CITYkeys performance measurement framework introduced the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) action cluster on urban platforms. Visitors got acquainted with projects implemented by European cities as part of their commitment to the charter. The Smart City Forum’s stand featured projects developed in collaboration with German cities, universities, and companies. GDC signatory cities displayed their accomplishments along with four SCC ‘lighthouse’ projects, including Smarter Together! and GrowSmarter.
Visitors, mostly representing industry, were particularly interested in the CITYkeys project’s key performance indicators (KPIs). Based on open standards and formats, the CITYkeys framework has been built with the involvement of cities to ensure that municipalities’ needs are recognised and taken on board when defining smart city standards.
The KPIs developed by CITYkeys partners have been endorsed by the ESPRESSO project - also present at the event - which develops a standardised integrated framework for smart cities.
