The European Commission published yesterday its proposal for the regulation on the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Cohesion Fund, along with the common provisions regulation (CPR) covering seven funds operated under shared management.

This was followed today by the announcement of the proposals for the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) merging the current ESF, the youth employment initiative (YEI), the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), the EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) and the EU Health Programme. This was part of a package of proposals under the broader cluster of programmes ‘investing in people and strengthening the social dimension of EU’, also including the Justice, Rights and Values Fund, the doubled Erasmus programme, and the Creative Europe programme, as well as the Globalisation Adjustment Fund which is outside the framework of the MFF.

We will look at the proposals in detail and prepare a briefing for our members in the coming week.
