We are bringing to you the opportunity to engage with other public authorities across Europe to discover and shape new innovative solutions to your procurement needs!

Public procurement can be a key tool in driving the development of innovative goods and services on the European market. By working together, and pooling their resources, cities, central purchasing bodies, and other major public procurers can maximise their market power and impact.
We are looking for ambitious and committed public authorities willing to work together to develop pioneering approaches to procurement, and develop strategic joint actions to help move the market.
We will be setting up a series of working groups by Summer-Autumn 2019, involving 3-7 buying organisations to collaborate on a specific procurement sector for up to 1 year, through a series of face-to-face and virtual meetings.
Activities could include, for example, developing joint statements of demand, organising market engagement activities, developing technical specifications/tender criteria, collecting and sharing best practice, and even joint procurement – the targeted outcomes for each group will be determined by the buyers involved.
EUROCITIES will provide:
  • Logistical support to run the group
  • Reimbursement of travel costs for meetings
  • Organising external expertise as necessary
  • Opportunities for peer to peer exchange and training on relevant topics
The Big Buyers Initiative, is a European Commission platform for promoting collaboration between big public buyers in implementing strategic public procurement.ICLEI and EUROCITIES are currently running the Initiative on behalf of the European Commission, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW).
