Nine cities have already joined the EUROCITIES campaign 'Cities4Europe - Europe for citizens'. Is your city going to be the tenth to register?
The cities of Cluj-Napoca, Dublin, Genoa, Ghent, Gijon, Paris, Rennes, Terrassa and Zaragoza are the first to have joined the 'Cities4Europe - Europe for citizens' campaign.
Throughout May 2018, ‘Cities4Europe - Europe for citizens’ will showcase successful local initiatives that engage citizens, present ideas for new forms of democracy and map out a positive, common future. By looking at answers together with their citizens, cities will have the opportunity to show their commitment to co-creating societies where people come first, and where trust between citizens and public authorities is strengthened.
Presenting the campaign at the EUROCITIES annual general assembly that took place in Ljubljana in November 2017, Daniël Termont, president of EUROCITIES and mayor of Ghent, said:
“A more positive future for Europe starts with its citizens. As local leaders and members of EUROCITIES, we are committed to engaging our citizens in a dialogue about our future. At a time when politics, both at national and European level, is failing to match people’s expectations, we are about to launch a process aimed at rebuilding and strengthening trust between citizens and public authorities.”
The dedicated campaign website, where all activities and news related to the campaign will be displayed, has recently been launched. EUROCITIES members wishing to join the campaign can do so, simply by submitting this online form.
Citizens, organisations and municipalities wishing to have more information about the campaign, can contact Federico Guerrieri, campaign coordinator, at email@example.com
Join us in May 2018, to build a better and citizen-focused Europe!
