Cities can now apply for the title of European Youth Capital 2021!

Cities across Europe can now apply to become the European Youth Capital in 2021. The title is awarded by the European Youth Forum to a different European city each year. The award is recognising the efforts and initiatives of the municipality in making the city more youth-friendly and boosting the role of young people and youth organisations in the community.

EUCANET calls for papers discussing the role of cities and city agencies in the EU urban agenda

Cities open the door for reading to children

Gothenburg, Turku, Milan, Brussels and Bristol partner up in an EU project to exchange knowledge on how to promote reading to children. The EU project is called "Open the door for reading". It is funded through the Erasmus+ programme and is coordinated by Gothenburg. Over the next two years, the project will include workshops, seminars and visits in all five cities.

Lisbon wins the European Capital of Sport 2021

Lisbon received the title of European Capital of Sport 2021. Six other members of EUROCITIES got the title of European City of Sport 2018: Banja LuKa, Braga, Cluj-Napoca, Klaipeda, Kortijki and Ostend. In 2018, the European Capital of Sport is Sofia.

Immigrants and minorities have high trust in local authorities, says new report

On 6 December, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) revealed new findings about the situation of immigrants and minorities in the EU. The findings were presented at a high-level conference in Brussels and discussed with over 200 participants, including representatives of the European Commission, member states, cities, equality bodies, minority groups and employers.
