Visualise Vienna’s model on preventing evictions and homelessness

EUROCITIES has prepared a video to present the successful practice of Vienna on preventing evictions and homelessness. It focuses on the strategic approach of the city, by showing the direct impact it has on two citizens - Andreas & Franziska. Through Wiener Wohnen, the property management company, Vienna engaged social workers to reach and provide tailored support to people that are at risk of being evicted.

The European Commission recently published the country reports under the European Semester 2019, analysing the social and economic situation in each EU member state. The country reports include more examples and analysis related to specific urban challenges than in any other previous country reports beforehand, which is good news for cities.

New EUROCITIES report: Cities delivering social rights

Coinciding with the launch of the city pledges at the European Parliament on 21 February, EUROCITIES also launched a new report mapping cities’ policy measures in line with the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights. The report covers 20 cities in 12 countries governing a total of 20 million people.

EUROCITIES members currently planning an event taking place between 13 April and 9 June 2019 still have the possibility to register it as an EU Green Week 2019 partner event. This year’s EU Green Week will take place between 13 May and 17 May 2019 and will examine the process of implementation of EU environmental laws.
