Timisoara is the 8th city to pledge to the EU Pillar of Social Rights

This week, Timisoara became the eighth city to sign a pledge to the EU Pillar of Social Rights. Deputy Mayor Imre Farkas signed pledges to principle 11 on childcare and support to children, principle 18 on long-term care and principle 19 on housing and assistance for homeless.

EU: Increasing in housing prices – increasing pressure on the affordable housing

On 18 January, Eurostat has released the data for Housing Price Index for the third quarter of 2018, which shows an increase in pricing in EU member countries. Compared to the same quarter in 2017, there was an increase of 4.3% in housing prices. This creates a pressure on the affordable housing in cities.

Measures for sustainable short-term rental in 18 French cities

Starting with 1 January, Airbnb and the other platforms members of French Holidays Homes Association, will support the development of a sustainable short-term rental market, by limiting the home listing to host reservations for a maximum of 120 nights per calendar year. The restriction applies to primary residence, where the owner at lives least 8 months per year.

Highlights from ‘preventing evictions and homelessness’ study visit in Vienna

On 6-7 December, EUROCITIES working groups on housing and homelessness had a joint meeting to learn and exchange views on Vienna’s strategic approach on preventing evictions and homelessness.
