The objective of this document is to show what is being discussed and what is being done in cities to find creative solutions to societal issues (social innovation) and to upgrade local governance systems.
As with the first issue of SEiSMiC’s Policy Watch, the second edition describes urban trends at the global, European and local levels. At the global level, this edition covers the Sustainable Development Summit (September 2015, in New York) and the global Maker Movement. At European level, it discusses the EU’s Urban Agenda, the release of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda from JPI Urban Europe and developments in the realm of “smart cities”. Then comes a rundown of the latest SEiSMiC project activity on new urban governance as well as new urban space.
