‘Shared productions’ in Nantes

The city of Nantes encourages daily cultural and educational activities that allow people to be themselves while strengthening social cohesion. Since 2009, the city has been supporting artistic projects that involve people in creative activities. Every year, about ten ‘shared productions’ are organised in each district of the city. These allow access to culture for everyone, add value to cultural diversity, and encourage local participation.

Hamburg: citizen participation in refugee integration

Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany, is home to around 1.8 million inhabitants (2015). Around a third of them have a migrant background. Among children, the respective ratio is 50%. SynAthina: Athens’ community platform

Greece’s financial crisis has given rise to civil society initiatives aimed at finding solutions to urban problems. The results of these efforts are worthy of support by the local municipalities. SynAthina is a social innovation platform set up by Athens in order to engage citizens in such reforms and to bring civil society in contact and dialogue with the city’s administration and political leaders.
