EUROCITIES study visit on ‘Local events with global impacts: Cities strengthening their international creative position through world-class cultural events and facilities.’ Within EUROCITIES we have been working on how cities support their local cultural and creative industries. We also work on how cities develop their international economic relations, their international branding and their attractiveness. The cities of Barcelona and Terrassa propose to host a focused event bringing together the creative industries, economic relations and international city branding.
The format of this study visit is inspired from the series of 15 thematic study visit we organised as part of our Culture for Cities and Regions initiative (see the visits’ reports here).
What is the format of a study visit?
The study visit is a mix of on-site visits, interviews with local stakeholders, workshops and feedback meetings. The study visit will be very interactive for all participants to learn and share.
What are the objectives of a study visit?
Through study visits we aim for participants to learn from their hosts, and consider whether and how best practice examples can be transferred to their local contexts. We want to build a broad learning community. Recommendations to cities will be developed on the basis of the conclusions of the study visit.
